Andrea: Andrea: I created “Meadow” with the intention of doing something neutral and natural to start off the Genesis Series. It was one of the more difficult pieces to name, as I struggled with meaning and purpose in the artworks. I try to peak curiosity with the audience by giving artworks a name that has them asking questions, seeking to learn more about an unusual title or connecting dots to current events, pop culture or word play.
Arlene: This is the first canvas that I received from Andrea and as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to paint on top. The colours are so vibrant and the idea of birds gathering over a grassy meadow was the jumping off point. My favourite bird is the Canada Goose so one goose was added to the canvas (the one at the top). This one goose looked a little lost so other geese were added, including the baby one coming in from the bottom. These birds were painted almost entirely with a palette knife.
