​Andrea:  I created “Sulphur” with the intention of doing my first hot colour palette pour, but it came out significantly different than I expected. Originally to be called “Saturn”, the name just didn’t sit right with the piece and it took quite some time for the name to finally emerge. The colour scheme was dour instead of bright; somehow reminiscent of chemicals.
 
Arlene:  This canvas presented some significant challenges for me.  Although yellow is my favourite colour, an idea for a composition didn't immediately come to me.  I eventually decided on a sea of sunflowers and if you look closely you will discover a couple painted in the style of two of the great masters, Monet and Renoir.  This painting was done almost entirely with a palette knife.
